Ewa Justice Lands First Career Win

YOUNG reinswoman Ewa Justice achieved a career milestone when she steered home her first winning drive aboard Another Nien in the Southern Cross Feeds 2YO Pace on Friday night.

The 20-year-old is the daughter of prominent trainer John Justice who trains Another Nien for owner Shwu-Mei Thompson.

Sent out a $4.40 second favorite, Another Nien worked to the early lead before being challenged by the $1.25 favorite Hestheonetowatch with a lap to travel.

Justice showed composure beyond her years as she held her charge together around the home turn before releasing the reins in the home straight and the son of Huntsville cruised to the line scoring by six metres from Godsgift and Holdem Or Foldem.

Justice admitted she was getting a bit frustrated after running a series of placings.

“I’ve has about 20 drives and gone close a few times without winning,” she said.

Justice praised Another Nien’s temperament after receiving interference from the favorite with 1100 metres to travel.

“My horse did a good job not to gallop when he was checked on the home turn a lap out,” she said.

Meanwhile John Justice was a proud Dad as he watched from the sidelines.

“I am serving a seven-day suspension, but in a way I’m glad as it has meant that Ewa has been able to have a few drives,” he said.
